Dear United Arts Fund Leaders:

It was a pleasure to see many of you in Chattanooga! Some of us had discussion about private vs. public funds for your campaign and organization. Here are some questions to put out there:

1. Do you receive public funds from local or state sources?    In 2018, we received approximately $84,000 in state funds

2. Do you count public funds as part of your annual campaign? Yes

3. What are the sources of your public funds (i.e. Food & Beverage Tax, Local Sales Tax, etc.) Legislative line item ($66,000), Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund ($14,000)

4. What are the uses of your public funds (i.e. Public Art, grantmaking, facilities management, etc.) Grant making and salaries for grant administration

5. What percentage of your total budget are from public funds?3.5%

Feel free to add questions.

Here are answers for Arts United:

1. Do you receive public funds from local or state sources?

Yes. We receive $95,000 per year from the City of Fort Wayne for Arts Campus venue ownership/management. We also receive about $265,000 per year from the Indiana Arts Commission for regional initiative grants.

2. Do you count public funds as part of your annual campaign?

No. We only count private funding as part of our Annual Fund Drive.

3. What are the sources of your public funds (i.e. Food & Beverage Tax, Local Sales Tax, etc.)

$95,000 in City of Fort Wayne funds comes from CEDIT (economic development income tax).

$265,000 from the Indiana Arts Commission (state arts commission) comes from the Indiana General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.

4. What are the uses of your public funds (i.e. Public Art, grantmaking, facilities management, etc.)

$95,000 in City of Fort Wayne CEDIT dollars are for venue ownership and management.

$265,000 in Indiana Arts Commission dollars are for pass-through regional initiative grants. We retain an administrative fee.

5. What percentage of your total annual operating budget are from public funds?
